The USA is a federation of 50 states each of which has considerable autonomy. It is therefore difficult to make general statements about national provision. The INCA website aims to provide a general outline, and makes specific reference to the states of Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts and Wisconsin, but there are likely to be regional and institutional differences.
READERS SHOULD NOTE THAT THE TERMS USED TO DESCRIBE SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND PROVISION IN THE COUNTRY CONCERNED ARE SPECIFIC TO THAT INDIVIDUAL COUNTRY.
