Canada is a confederation which has devolved responsibility for education to the ten provinces and three territories. It is therefore not always possible to provide general statements about national provision. The INCA website aims to provide general information on national initiatives where possible, followed by more detailed information on the situation in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan. There are likely to be regional and institutional differences. Although education is the responsibility of the provinces and territories and there is variability in virtually all aspects of schooling, it is important to note that the provincial educational systems are marked more by their similarities than their differences.
